SUMMARY: Work with individuals with disabilities to assess their functional ability and determine solutions that will increase access, safety, and independence at home.

SUPERVISOR: Vice President of Community Integration


RESPONSIBILITIES: (with or without reasonable accommodations)

  • Perform home visits to: (1) Assist consumers with the application process as necessary and obtain eligibility (intake) documents (per funding source) and necessary approval. (2) Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments (pre-and post-service) of consumers' functional ability at home (using Ability360's standardized electronic assessment tool in rural projects); (3) Assist consumers in determining their home access needs and establishing related independent living goals/ plans
  • Provide accurate information and appropriate referrals to other Ability360 programs/ services and community resources as appropriate
  • Conduct Lead-based Paint Visual Inspections
  • Assist in developing scopes of work
  • Facilitate pre-bid meetings for contractors at consumer homes, as needed
  • Conduct site visits to monitor contractors' work to ensure it meets specifications/consumers' needs and verify all necessary permits
  • Maintain documentation consistent with Ability360's policies and procedures and funding requirements (including in-home assessment, goal planning, information and referral, output/ outcome measurements, etc.)
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and downloaded in to Ability360's database system.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through review of literature, attendance at trainings, and networking


  • Understanding of, and passion for, Ability360's mission and vision
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • National home access/modification certification - Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC), Certified Aging-in Place Specialist (CAPS), and/ or Certified Accessibility Inspector/ Plans Examiner
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards/ laws (ADAAG and/ or ANSII-ICC A117.1) and disability and aging issues (housing rehabilitation, aging in place modifications)
  • HUD Certified Lead Based Paint Visual Inspector (may be obtained after hire)
  • Proficiency with MS Office as well as database and assessment software
  • Excellent customer service, interview, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Ability360's service area, including all of Pinal County and Maricopa County
  • Subject to criminal background check prior to employment (AZ Level 1 fingerprint clearance required) and proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Work Environment:

Position requires work both out in consumers' homes and inside the office or in a home office.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full time salaried position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
